Ampthill v Hartpury rescheduled
The RFU Disputes Committee has taken a decision following Saturday's abandoned game.
The Ampthill v Hartpury University round 8 match, that took place on 14th December 2024, was abandoned after the 28th minute when the referee was knocked unconscious. Having been unconscious for three minutes, and due to the urgency of the situation, the referee was taken to hospital by the on-site ambulance. A replacement ambulance was unable to be sourced quickly, with a projected wait time of one hour. At this point, with limited daylight remaining and with no floodlights, the replacement referee made the decision to abandon the game on health and safety grounds.
The RFU Disputes Committee met to consider the facts, relevant regulations and supporting documentation and concluded that the Championship round 8 fixture, Ampthill v Hartpury University, should be replayed on the next available date. The next available date was determined as the weekend of Saturday 11th January 2025.
