Bedford Blues won a thriller at Ealing Trailfinders as the top two went head-to-head on Easter Saturday.

Blues triumphed 30-24 in the capital while Hartpury beat Coventry to leapfrog their visitors into third.

Elsewhere, there were impressive victories for Ampthill, Cornish Pirates, Doncaster Knights and Nottingham.
Blues win battle of top two

Fyn Brown scored twice as second-placed Bedford Blues overturned a half-time deficit to earn a bonus-point 30-24 victory at leaders Ealing Trailfinders.
Tries from Tobi Wilson and Jordy Reid helped the hosts into a 17-11 advantage at the break, with Brown’s first score keeping Blues in the contest at the break.
Alex Day scored early in the second period and Bedford led when Brown crossed for his second.
Fred Tuilagi soon dotted down for the bonus-point score, with Will Maisey’s second conversion extending the advantage to 30-17.
Tom Collins’ converted score set up a grandstand finish but Blues held on to cut the gap at the summit to 13 points.

Hartpury climb into third

Hartpury held firm amid a second-half fightback to beat Coventry 31-24 in Gloucestershire to leapfrog their visitors into third.
James Short, a penalty try and Sam Lewis established a 21-0 half-time lead and Mike Austin’s converted score soon extended the advantage further.
But Coventry came roaring back as Tommy Mathews and James Martin crossed to start the fightback.
Harry Bazalgette’s penalty made it 31-12 but Oli Morris and Sam Maunder set up a nervy finale when their tries brought Coventry back to within seven with 15 minutes still to play.
Hartpury were able to see out the closing stages, however, to climb into the top three.

Pirates edge past Caldy in close encounter

Cornish Pirates extended their winning run to three games as they overcame Caldy 27-24 at Mennaye Field.
The visitors opened the scoring after just three minutes when Callum Ridgway dived over but Pirates struck back five minutes later when Harry Hocking scored after a maul.
Caldy went into the break with a 12-5 lead thanks to Charlie Hyde’s score in the corner on 23 minutes.
The home side rallied during the second half and took the lead for the first time when Dan Hiscocks went under the posts before a penalty try further helped their cause.
Pirates scored their fourth try through captain Alex Everett, who gave his side a 12-point lead.
Caldy responded through two Dom Hanson tries, either side of a Pirates penalty, as they fell just short of a fightback.

Five-try Doncaster cruise past Chinnor

Doncaster Knights comfortably beat Chinnor 38-14 at Castle Park, avenging the 18-13 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture, to register a seventh consecutive victory.
A penalty and a converted try apiece from Morgan Strong and Archie Smeaton gave Knights a 17-0 lead before Rob Hardwick got Chinnor on the scoreboard just before half time.
Knights continued their dominance in the second half as Aidan Cross, Semesa Rokoduguni and Ben Chapman’s converted scores put the result beyond doubt with Chinnor's second try with 11 minutes to go no more than a conciliation.

Fantastic first half sets Ampthill up for victory

Ampthill turned on the style to beat London Scottish 38-19 at Dillingham Park.
Tries from Josh Barton, Jack Bracken (2) and Harrison Courtney secured the bonus point for the hosts inside the opening 40 minutes, which came to a close with Ampthill 26-0 to the good.
Brandon Jackson and Roan Frostwick added further Ampthill tries in a second half which saw the visitors improve and cross three times themselves through Austin Wallis, Roma Zheng’s stunning individual effort and Jonah Holmes’ late consolation.

Nottingham have fun in the sun against Cambridge

Nottingham ran in five second-half tries as they pulled away from Cambridge in a 61-22 win on Sunday.
The visitors trailed by just four points at the break, but Nottingham ran in 35 unanswered points in the second 40 minutes to take home all the points.
Ben Brownlie had given Cambridge a dream start but he was sent to the sin-bin with the Blood & Sand 10-0 up and Notts quickly grabbed two tries through Harry Clayton and David Williams.
Eli Caven but Cambridge back in front before a second for Williams and a try from Ryan Olowofela made it 26-15.
Pete White’s try brought Cambridge back into it before half-time, but after the break, it was all Nottingham.
Jack Dickinson and George Timmins both crossed within three minutes of the restart and then late on, Olowofela grabbed a second before a late double for Antonio Harris.
