Championship Weekend Review
A round-up of the weekend's action as Jersey Reds, Ealing Trailfinders and Cornish Pirates remain unbeaten after two rounds.
Six matches, 234 points, two hat-tricks, and a historic victory for newly promoted Caldy RFC. We look back at another thrilling round of action in The Championship.
Doncaster Knights secured their first win of the season with a bonus-point victory against Hartpury. Winger George Simpson backed up last week's try-scoring debut with a brace en route to a 16-34 win at The Alpas Arena. Caldy pulled off a second-half fightback at The RAG to beat Richmond 32-34 and clinch their first ever victory at Championship level, with Martin Gerrard's late chargedown try sealing a memorable win for the Ravers. Bedford Blues and London Scottish played out a thriller at Goldington Road, with both sides scoring six tries in a 49-36 home win. Dean Adamson crossed twice for the hosts, while Will Trenholm bagged a hat-trick for The Exiles. Reigning champions Ealing Trailfinders were tested by Ampthill in a 17-32 win at Dillingham Park. Ben Cambriani scored a hat-trick for The Mob, but the Trailfinders secured a late bonus-point through Carlo Tizzano for the second week in a row. Jersey continued their impressive start to the season with a resounding 40-14 victory against Coventry at The Stade Santander. The Reds scored three tries either side of half time with Tomi Lewis and Antonio Harris both crossing twice. Sunday's only match saw Nottingham host Cornish Pirates at Lady Bay, with the visitors overturning a 19-9 deficit to win 19-23 and maintain their unbeaten start to their season.
