Round 3 Round-Up
Get up to speed on Saturday's action in The Championship.
Yesterday saw eight of the 11 Championship teams in action, with Cornish Pirates given a bye weekend, and Bedford Blues and Hartpury set to wrap up Round 3 when they meet at Goldington Road next Saturday.

THE MOB STUN COV
Ampthill produced arguably the most eye-catching result of the weekend with a bonus-point win against Coventry at Dillingham Park. Coventry went into Saturday's clash against The Mob off the back of a fine run of form, and took an early lead through Louis James, but Ampthill held firm and scored a brace through Oli Hartley and Toby Elliot with the clock ticking down to half time. Gwyn Parks extended Ampthill's lead with six more points from the tee shortly after the restart, but Coventry responded with a blistering salvo: three tries in six minutes through Jordon Poole, Ryan Hutler, and James Martin. Trailing by four points and heading into the final quarter, Ampthill saved their best for last and took the lead with 12 minutes to go when Nathan Michelow darted over, and Samson Adejimi added another eight minutes later. Manu Vunipola's two successful conversions denied Coventry a losing bonus point, and The Mob closed out what will go down as one of their most impressive results in The Championship.
RAVERS UP AND RUNNING
Caldy edged London Scottish in an attritional affair at Paton Field, as The Ravers banked their first win of the campaign, and condemned The Exiles to a second straight defeat. The hosts raced into an early 14-point lead inside the opening 20 minutes through Ciaran Booth and Matt Gallagher, but Scottish's riposte came soon after, with Ashley Challenger and Hayden Hyde running in two tries in quick succession just before the half-hour mark. Sam Rogers' two conversions to Connor Slevin's one would be the only difference between the sides at the break. The arm wrestle continued after the restart, when Connor Wilkinson and Will Talbot-Davies traded tries two minutes either side of the hour mark, before Oli Hearn rumbled over to extend Caldy's lead with 10 minutes to go. Lewis Barker's then slotted a 79th minute penalty to put the result beyond doubt and deny London Scottish a losing bonus point. A hard-fought win for The Ravers, but a tough afternoon for The Exiles, who will have been bitterly disappointed to leave Paton Field empty handed.
DONNY MAKE IT 3 FROM 3
Two of the league's unbeaten sides met at Castle Park, as Doncaster Knights overcame Nottingham to move into second place in the table. The Archers wasted no time in extending their phenomenal try-scoring record [seven tries in both of their opening matches] with Jordan Olowofela and David Williams running in a brace inside five minutes. But The Knights recovered well with an 18-point first-half haul, via tries from Tom Doughty and Harry Wilson, and eight points from the boot of Sam Olver. Rhys Tait added another after the restart, and Olver crossed for the bonus point four minutes later as The Knights opened up a 28-point lead. Sam Hollingsworth pegged one back for Nottingham heading into the last quarter, but it proved to be too little too late as The Archers suffered their first defeat of the season against an impressive-looking Doncaster Knights.
EALING FLEX MUSCLES AGAINST CAMBRIDGE
Ealing Trailfinders and Cambridge met in West London, as the hosts posted a big win against the Championship newcomers, who remain on the hunt for their first win in the English second tier. The Trailfinders' pack did the damage early on, with Andrew Davidson, Rayn Smid, and Will Montgomery all crossing inside 18 minutes. Richard Hardwick then brought up the bonus point seven minutes later, and Matt Cornish ran in a fifth just before half time. Elias Caven pulled one back for Cambridge four minutes after the restart, but any hopes of a fightback were quickly stemmed when second-half replacement, Simon Uzokwe, ran in two tries in the space of just minutes. Mike Willemse then crossed for Ealing's eighth of the afternoon, and Hardwick and Montgomery both added to their tally in the closing stages of the match. The win sees Ealing stay top of The Championship after three rounds, one point ahead of Doncaster Knights.
